16 Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always); 17 Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly]; 18 Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will]. — I Thessalonians 5:16-18, (AMPC)
A couple days ago, I was frustrated about some little something that I didn’t think went right. I grumbled a bit, and felt the gentle conviction of the Holy Spirit. “Forgive me, LORD, for being unthankful any moment!” I whispered to Him. “My life is so very blessed! Billions of people would love to live my life just as it is, and it gets better every day! Thank You, LORD, for Your faithfulness and mercy to me, amen!”
When we can choose to be thankful in every situation–even if we don’t feel like it–the LORD is magnified and we keep our souls in line. There is a reason the LORD commands us to purposely good things on purpose!
