Prayer That Works

Romans 12:12 (The Passion Translation), says, “Let this hope burst forth within you, releasing a continual joy. Don’t give up in a time of trouble, but commune with God at all times.”

“To commune with God” means to pray, to simply talk to Him, or share your heart. You can do it silently–for He knows all our thoughts before the world began (Psalm 139:2)–but it almost always helps you to speak things out, privately with Him, or in a group of people you trust.

He tells us in to tell Him everything. He is our Great High Priest, Who has experienced every emotion we ever will, and He cares and understands. When we come to Him in prayer, trusting Him with our hearts, He is faithful to hear and answer and give us–if we let Him–true peace.

I love what the Word says in Psalm 91:15 (TPT): “I will answer your cry for help every time you pray, and you will find and feel my presence even in your time of pressure and trouble. I will be your glorious hero and give you a feast”.

1 Peter 3:12 (TPT) says, For the eyes of the Lord Yahweh rest upon the godly, and his heart responds to their prayers. But he turns his back on those who practice evil.”

Also in I Peter 4:7 (TPT), the Word says, “Since we are approaching the end of all things, be intentional, purposeful, and self-controlled so that you can be given to prayer.”

Jude 1:20 (TPT), But you, my delightfully loved friends, constantly and progressively build yourselves up on the foundation of your most holy faith by praying every moment in the Spirit.

Jude 1:20 (TPT), But you, my delightfully loved friends, constantly and progressively build yourselves up on the foundation of your most holy faith by praying every moment in the Spirit.

James 5:16 (TPT) is another verse on prayer: Confess and acknowledge how you have offended one another and then pray for one another to be instantly healed, for tremendous power is released through the passionate, heartfelt prayer of a godly believer!”

This column will help teach you how to pray to get results. It is a privilege and honor to be able to pray to the God of Heaven and earth. He is the Father of all of us who believe in His Son, Jesus, and what He did for us on the cross (John 3:15-17).

If you don’t know Jesus God’s Son as your personal Savior Whom you have asked to forgive and cleanse you of your sins and come into your heart , then the only prayer the holy God will hear is that of you praying what you just read–to forgive and save you. For you to be able to come before this holy God, you must be born again (Romans 3:20-30).

Once you agree with Him that you need Him and receive Him, you will be miraculously brought into His Kingdom. You will become a royal son or daughter of the Most High–for all who call upon Him that truly mean it will be saved! (Romans 10:11-13). He created and loves all people of every place, color, and language!

So once you receive Christ Jesus as Savior, you become His Brother and God’s child! Then you can approach this holy God as Daddy God, Abba Father–in peace and trust, knowing that He loves you and hears you and wants to help you.

There are different types of prayer, and First, understand that the will of God is the Word of God and He loves to answer prayers based on His Word.

Ask the LORD to lead you to Scriptures that you can pray back to Him about the person or situation that needs help. He will! Keep a prayer journal to record His faithfulness to you!
